Since then, AI development has accelerated. In the 1960s, the US Department of Defense started investigating the possibility of using AI for a variety of purposes. At that time, they started teaching computers how the fundamentals of the human mind work.

But because of some issues, artificial intelligence slowed significantly in 1966. The development of artificial intelligence started to encounter roadblocks.

Even though it appeared improbable, artificial intelligence started to rise once more and eventually developed into an industry in the 1980s. A system known as R1 was discovered at that time. Digital Equipment Corporation eventually took over operation of the R1 in 1982.

The R1 successfully saved 40 million US dollars annually over four years of operation. As a result, artificial intelligence technology started to reappear in major corporations and grow.
